
Participants under the age of 18 will need their parent/legal guardian to sign a legal affidavit on their behalf. Upon tail submission, participants are required to sign a legal affidavit indicating the tails were obtained during the time period outlined above and that they came from an animal they harvested.Animals must be trapped or shot by the program participant within this timeframe: April 1 - July 1.GFP will process payments and send a check in the mail approximately every 30 days. In the last two years of the program, approximately 4,300 program participants removed nearly 81,000 nest predators. Participation is for South Dakota residents. Raccoon, striped skunk, badger, opossum, and red fox are the eligible species for this program.

Trapping is an intention to experience, explore and create lasting memories while making a difference for managing wildlife in South Dakota. The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks is focused on reducing localized populations of nest predators as a way to enhance pheasant and duck nest success, while at the same time increasing participation in trapping from all ages. The program is currently closed for 2021. The bounty program ran from April 1 – July 1. Time Period: To be eligible for the bounty program, the nest predators listed above must be harvested during the program timeframe. Species Included: Primary nest predators - raccoons, striped skunks, badgers, opossums, and red fox. The Nest Predator Bounty Program ran from Apuntil July 1, 2021.
